The Anritsu MW 98 A
Optical Time Domain Reflectometer performs high-precision measurements of fault position, splice loss, splice position, and optical fiber loss. The optical unit employs temperature-controlled, high-output laser diodes in plugin units permitting measurements at 0.85 µm or 1.3 µm in multi-mode fibers, 1.3 µm single-mode fibers, and 1.5 µm single-mode fibers (depending upon plugin).
The MW 98 A offers a measurement range of 72 km and a 16 dB wide dynamic range (backscattering measurement using 1.3 µm single-mode fiber module).
Together with a display precision of 1 µm for distance and 0.01 dB for loss, the MW 98 A opens new frontiers in optical pulse echo tester performance.
In addition, use of a 16-bit CPU adds high speed loss measurement and averaging capabilities, while other features include an easy-to-use panel layout and highly legible CRT display.
