Pulse Pattern Generator and Error Detector Set

D3186/D3286 from Advantest offers a test solution for high-speed data transmission.
The dual-purpose solution consisting of a pulse pattern generator and an error detector operates in the frequency range 150 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps and allows various pseudo random sequences and programmable word bit patterns as well as the simulation of SDH/SONET frames.
The output signals of the measuring instrument are characterized by minimum jitter values and steep clock edges. The complementary data output can be set flexibly and has an amplitude resolution of 10 mV and 1 ps in the phase range. The output amplitude range can optionally be extended to 3 V. This feature is a worldwide first and of particular importance for specific applications such as EA modulators.
The BER can be evaluated versus the complete measurement time or versus certain time intervals or bit sequences (patterns). Statistical errors can thus be detected and pattern-dependent and systematic errors pinpointed. Error reports are output via GPIB or printer interface.

The set offers excellent waveforms with high speed and high quality and diverse error detecting functions in an operating frequency range from 150 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps. In addition, with the 8 M-bit large capacity memory and ADVANTEST's unique frame pattern generation function, the D3186 / D3286 is an error performance test system which is compatible with STM-1 (155.52 Mbps) to STM-64 (9.95 Gbps) in SDH/SONET.
